“Up All Night”, distills a night out in New York City’s downtown club scene in the 1970s and 80s. Weaving from the dance floor to inside gritty club bathrooms, out onto the streets of the neighborhood, the images reflect the energy of the time. Brightly colored clothing, dramatic hairstyles, and heavy makeup set the stage for excitement and possibility, and the viewer is offered a first person perspective on the maze-like discoveries of a long and open-ended evening. Expressions of individuality and liberated sexuality, set against color saturated and graffiti- filled backdrops, capture the irreverent energy and spirit of youth culture of this time.
